Project Objectives

ROHM Theatre Kyoto, a theatre based in Kyoto, is launching a project in collaboration with emerging performing artists and creators to showcase their talents from Kyoto to the world. The theater will develop a support model enabling direct international engagement, leveraging its expertise in production, networks, and talent development. It also aims to strengthen the overall production and technical capacities of Kyoto’s performing arts scene.

Project Approach

Two selected directors, Masato Nomura and Yuya Nishida, will each develop a new and an existing work, resulting in four productions to be presented both domestically and internationally.

ROHM Theatre Kyoto

ROHM Theatre Kyoto serves as a base for cultural creation and dissemination, aiming to enrich Kyoto’s identity as a cultural city. It promotes a new theatrical culture centered on the idea of "the theater as part of everyday life," forging deeper connections between daily experience and the arts. Since its 2016 reopening, the theater has focused on four pillars: Creation, Cultivation, Exchange, and Life Style.
