Project Objectives

The project aims to cultivate artists and creators in the fields of performing arts and music who can thrive on the global stage. It also seeks to strengthen in-house production staff and expand the theater’s global reach through digital video content, enhancing its role as a platform for sharing the appeal of Japanese contemporary performing arts worldwide.

Project Approach

Led by incoming artistic directors from FY2026, Toshiki Okada and Kazuki Yamada, along with other experienced theatre executives, this project develops creators and staff to promote Japanese performing arts globally. It offers OJT, overseas training, production support, and fosters teams for stage video promotion and archiving, boosting domestic and international outreach.

(Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre)

Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, is one of Japan’s leading large-scale multidisciplinary cultural complexes. It features four performance halls, four exhibition spaces, conference and rehearsal rooms, and open public areas. In addition to producing theater, music, and dance performances, it presents major events such as the TACT Festival, Born Creative Festival, and the Tokyo Festival. A core part of its mission is to promote international exchange, including reviving global co-productions that were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.
