Project Objectives

By establishing a new curriculum for the systematic study of theatrical animation production and developing the Vtech Lab, where advanced visual technologies can be practiced, the project aims to nurture international creators capable of working across live-action, animation, and CG. This will help supply Japan’s animation industry, which tends to depend greatly on the unique artistry of individual creators, with talent capable of designing and implementing various visual expressions in the global market, thus strengthening Japan’s filmmaking education and the presence of Japan’s animation industry in the world.

Project Approach

By establishing the new theatrical animation production curriculum and developing the Vtech Lab as the foundation of the educational environment, the project will offer students experience-based learning using storyboards and simple film sets, as well as advanced technical exercises to practice LED shooting, motion capture, and live-action compositing. This project will facilitate industry-academia joint projects with animation production companies, joint international training with overseas film festivals and educational institutions, and joint projects for international production. Students will produce and distribute their animation works in Japan and globally.
