Project Objectives

Utilizing its vast wealth of knowledge, the Manga Career College aims to develop a unique and diverse curriculum that it will make available to students studying manga at university and vocational schools, as well as individuals enrolled in other majors outside of manga studies. With this, the program hopes to expand the current manga industry and lay the groundwork for its advancement overseas.

Project Approach

By developing individual’s promotional skills, creativity, and legal knowledge, the Manga Career College’s program will address skills that any professional working in the manga industry must possess. The curriculum developed for this project will then go on to be published as educational videos on the Manga Career College’s website, allowing more people the ability to study manga. Additionally, future opportunities for students to brush up on skills they have learned in class through participation in hands-on activities at partnering schools as well as overseas training opportunities to learn about manga production will be offered.

Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture(JPIC)

Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture (JPIC) was established in March 1991 as a cross-industry non-profit organization, viewing the publishing culture industry as encompassing the entire process of bringing books “from the hands of authors to readers.” JPIC primarily aims to “promote lifelong learning related to the publishing and cultural industry and reading activities,” proactively engaging in activities addressing the themes of “books,” “reading,” “learning,” and “lifestyle enrichment” in collaboration with companies, organizations, and governmental agencies within and outside of the publishing industry.
