Project Objectives
Through this project, ASO Pop Culture College aims to nurture manga creators who can succeed in global markets, in collaboration with publishers and educational institutions both in Japan and abroad.
By moving beyond the traditional approach of training talent primarily for the domestic market and engaging in collaborative initiatives with overseas publishers and educational institutions, participating students will develop the skills and perspectives needed to pursue opportunities across diverse international markets.
Through the analysis of market needs and evaluation standards in different countries, and through the establishment of a framework that integrates educational activities with international initiatives such as co-productions, exhibitions, and external evaluations, the College will build a sustainable model for nurturing internationally competitive manga creators.
Project Approach
In the first year, market research will be done through observation of primary events held overseas and roadmaps for skill development will be organized by country. After that, students will participate in international activities such as co-productions with overseas publishers and exhibits at international events that will be incorporated in the curriculum. The achievements will be verified through external assessment and feedback will be used to improve the educational content so that it better satisfies global criteria. Ultimately, the College will establish a framework for a cycle of educational and international activities, and institutionalize it to develop a sustainable talent development model that can be applied to other educational institutions and industries within and outside of Japan.
