Project Objectives

Through collaboration between the teaching staff of film making, product design, architecture, and music majors with relevant companies and organizations, Kyushu University aims to integrate diverse design disciplines and develop a training program for the next generation of creators. In doing so, the University aims to broaden the range of content created and foster works in what may be called new fields.

Project Approach

The School of Design aims to develop and implement training programs, which will include lectures and practice drills of various design disciplines, for the next generation of creators. The three occupations targeted for development are artists, producers, and researchers who are capable of becoming global players. Furthermore, by participating in international competitions and putting overseas expansion into practice, students will develop a global mindset in their field.

Kyushu University

At Kyushu University’s School of Design which sprouted from the Kyushu Institute of Design, an institution founded in 1968, researchers have been pursuing the humanization of technology for more than 50 years. As a pioneer of design research and education, the school has sent off many outstanding talents to society, leaving significant marks in various industries, culture, and regional development. After its integration with Kyushu University in 2003, the school has expanded its scope from “designing of things” to the “designing of experience” and “creation of values.” It is further expanding its scope to “envisioning”, pursuing the mission to conceptualize the ways of society and the future.
