TOKYO INSTITUTE of PHOTOGRAPHY

Official Social Media

Project Objectives

Photography is one of the most effective tools for cultural exchange. It enables the circulation of people, ideas, and capital while forming global networks. This project seeks to unlock these potentials by supporting the development of emerging photographers in Japan, thereby contributing to both cultural enrichment and economic revitalization.

Project Approach

This initiative leverages the simultaneous international photography festival and art fair to nurture emerging artists, curators, and critics. It includes:
(1) public juries to select and promote outstanding artists worldwide;
(2) curator training for global exhibition coordination;
(3) support for young critics to publish reviews.
Catalogs and outreach run alongside.

TOKYO INSTITUTE of PHOTOGRAPHY

TOKYO INSTITUTE of PHOTOGRAPHY operates “T3,” a platform that expands the possibilities of photographic expression and fosters international cultural exchange through festivals, fairs, and related training initiatives. Key programs include:T3 PHOTO FESTIVAL TOKYO, which transforms the urban spaces of Tokyo into venues for international photographic exhibitions and promotes cultural tourism through photography. T3 PHOTO ASIA, an art photo market that gathers galleries and artists from across Asia and leads the global photographic arts scene. T3 NEW TALENT, a development program for emerging and mid-career artists, curators, and critics, offering training atop the frameworks of arts festivals and art fairs. Through these three pillars, the organization creates new cultural value rooted in photography and connects it to future generations.
