Project Objectives
This project aims to cultivate globally active creators by providing emerging directors, composers, choreographers, set designers, producers, and others with opportunities to learn international standards in creation and negotiation through global performances. It also seeks to strengthen collaboration and networks with international arts organizations and to lay the groundwork for bringing outstanding Japanese content to the global stage.
Project Approach
A total of nine emerging creators—including directors, composers, choreographers, a choreographer-actor, set designers, and producers—will be selected to participate in this project. In the first and second years, they will gain practical experience in international standards of the creative process and negotiation through participation in global performances. As a tangible outcome, three productions will be presented in more than 40 performances across two countries. In the second and third years, these young creators will take the lead in all stages of production, from planning to staging international performances, for another set of three works. Throughout the entire period, experienced creators active both in Japan and abroad will provide support in planning and production. The project also aims to establish a sustainable framework that allows this developmental cycle to continue beyond the program’s completion.
